Wandering back to an old hobby.

Today.. I started getting comics again, and I keep asking myself why did I ever stop. I guess the urge wasn't large enough for me, and when my brother moved out, and I went to Junior High.. the urge wasn't there anymore. I went occasionally, I wish I had made it work.. Now I doubt I'll ever get those years back, but I can try to stay in touch now. I also realize now, that I got all DC comics.. I'll have to look for Punisher, Spider-Man when I go next time. I got:

Teen Titans Go! #8 - Well, I'm a fan of the show, so I decided to buy Issue 8 hoping for the best, and I wasn't disappointed. I liked the cover, having the hypnotized Titans say "Buy This book!" I wasn't surprised that Star was the one approached about the clothing line, I would've gone after her first too. Then Beast Boy and his impulsiveness agreeing for her, and seeing them in those funky outfits was funny. Nice part with BB putting that hat on Robin, and then realizing he should take it off. Once I realized the clothes were the reason everyone was under Mad Mod's control, I figured a lack of clothes would be the solution. A very interesting method to get rid of the clothes, and I was just cracking up at the end with Star being naked and the reactions of Robin and Cyborg. Good issue, kept me entertained. Had the feel of the series. I give it an A-.
Identity Crisis #1
Batman: Harley and Ivy #3
Batman Adventures #15 - This was the first chance I got to read an issue of BA. And wow, it was great, and I'm glad I decided to pick this up off the shelf. I loved the colors on the cover, and the story was really good. Seeing Francis try to hide Viktor's letter and then to try to make it look like Mr. Freeze was after him.. Then Nora reuniting with Viktor only to have it turn bittersweet with the appearance of Batman. I'm hopeful that Nora eventually finds him again, she definitely has the resolve and determination like Viktor.. A perfect match. Great issue. I give it an A.
Batman #629 - I liked the cover a lot, it's what attracted me to the issue in the first place, I liked this design of an "older" Jason might've looked like. It's unfortunate that somehow he couldn't miracuolously be alive, but it was a nice thought, although the paranoia of him being alive doesn't seem original. Too much time was spent on Batman struggling with the Toxin, that was pretty much the whole issue. And what was up with Robin (Tim) looking so young?! He looked like 13/14.. I didn't like that, but I thought the issue was good as a single, it probably brought down the arc they're in, but I haven't seen the other issues. I give it a B.
Batman/Superman #8
Robin #127
The New Adventures of Batgirl and Robin #53

Batman - Bruce Wayne: Murderer?
ThunderCats - The Return

I will be going back on Saturday (Free Comic Book Day).

Lakers lost =(

Congratulations to the Detroit Pistons.. They did something no other team could do this year or in fact, in the last 5 years no one could do, is beat the Lakers. Last year injuries kept LA from competing against San Antonio, and we could say the same for this year, but I have to think Detroit might've still won had LA been healthy. This Laker Dynasty, the only team that could beat them was themselves and that held true these 5 years, till the finals tonight. The Pistons simply were too overwhelming.

It was frustrating seeing the Lakers give it all they got, but it just wasn't enough to tame the mighty Detroit beast. Maybe the EAST isn't as bad as we thought. Perhaps power is starting to shift, that the EAST has adjusted by going on the defensive.

I'm glad to see Chauncey Billups get the MVP. Out of all the Detroit players, he is the one that caused us the most problems. He deserves it, I'm glad they didn't give it to Rip.

Oh and Pat.. so LA lost.. Guess what?? At least they beat the Twolves and were best in the WEST.. LOL.. =)

And now the offseason begins for the Lakers. We shall find out shortly if Malone or Payton will op out of their deals, I think they have till noon tomorrow, I believe. The Lakers need a big change. Hopefully Kobe and ShaQ stay. The rest, perhaps need to be changed. I'm not sure, all i know is I hope LA can return to the Finals eventually, and that everything with Kobe gets resolved this summer.

Pokermania

It's been awhile since I blogged so I figured I'd give you the update on my harrowing tale this night (Friday). Played bball with the guys, then played poker with the guys, lost all my $10 after not following my judgement and quitting at 1am when i was still even. *sigh*

Anyway, I left my wallet in Lorn's car or so I thought, when I got in to pay him, I suddenly noticed I didn't have it.. I started to panick thinking I had lost my wallet at Jack in the Box (we stopped there before playing poker) and I had $200+ in my wallet since I've been lazy and not opened a new savings account. And it's 2:20am, so I'm pretty much freaking out.. As we begin to drive luckily I feel between the seats my wallet in all it's glory.. Yay!.. So I survived that one, and only lost $10 instead of $200.. Right when I got in I took that money out of my wallet and into my desk drawer for it to stay till I can open an account.

What a day.. er night.. and I should get some sleep.

Guys Night Out

Well wow, I just had a pretty good and eventful afternoon/evening. It's funny looking back I don't remember much of what I did in the morning, I know I talked to Andrea, and I probably just did regular day off types of things.

Anyway, I went off to play basketball, leaving the house around 5:50, went by and picked up Alan and we went to CV and started shooting hoops, literally minutes after that Lorn showed up and we began to start a game of 21. Then some more people came and eventually we got up to 10 people while our friends, finally came and went off to shoot with my ball. Luckily one of the 10 people who was going to play was the CV WaterPolo coach, and he asked if we wanted to play in the gym, and of course we accepted. Some of us (including me) thought we were going to play in the main gym, so we went there, where the CV Volleyball team were practicing or something.. There were some cuties there.. lemme tell ya. Anyway, comes out we were going to play in the small gym, aka the original main gym back when I went to CV, well at least the first 2 years anyway. So we go into the gym and it's crazy warm/stuffy in there.. 3 minutes into the game everyone was sweating so much, had layers of sweat, it was crazy. I think we ended up playing 3 or 4 full court games to 15, all the games were competitive and I definitely got a workout running up and down with the guys, hustling for the balls, finding the right guy, etc. I didn't shoot much, nor get the chance to, but I didn't mind because I was going as hard as I can and I felt accomplished somewhat. After that, me, Alan and Lorn went back outside where our friends were, and after a bit of time to just joke around and recover, we played a game of 3 on 3. After that we talked about what we wanted to do, and that's how Poker Night occured.

We called Devon, and he said it was cool, so we stopped off at 7-11 where we bought drinks and stuff, I gave Pat a buck and I spotted Alan his drink and split corndogs with him. After that we went to Del Taco, where me and Lorn bought 10 tacos.. and then we followed Patrick to Devon's house. Once we got there we ate and then Alan brought his Gamecube (we stopped at his place after 7-11) and we plugged it in and started playing the Naruto 2 Import game he had.. That game is so awesome.. We are all such Naruto fans so we're like all crazy into the fighting, it was pretty cool.. My easiest characters to fight with where Kyuubi Naruto and Rock Lee. Then we played Poker, first time we started with buying $10.. usually it's $5.. Then. we had the first hand.. where the pot got up to $15 or something, it was crazy.. I had three of a kind, and i still lost, it sucked so much.. It was a really fun time, I got such bad luck for a time that I actually bought $10 and lost most of that too, so I was down almost $20.. Then I made my comeback.. After a few hours, and around 1, I actually made all my money back and was up $2.. once I lost those $2 around 1:20, I called myself out.. First time I broke even playing poker with the guys.. I think I'm getting a hand of it a bit. Alan ended up losing $20 and Lorn lost $21.. Me and Alan played some more Naruto 2.. and I actually beat him with Kyuubi Naruto and him with Gaara.. It was crazy..

Finally Lorn had to go at 2, so he gave me a ride home, we discussed our thoughts on the poker events and stuff like that. Then I got home.. saw some AIM messages that made me sorta feel bad for being out and not being there to talk to those people. And I reheated dinner, My parents had bought In n Out, so I took it from the fridge and ate that in bed while watching Nick @ Nite.. Yes, I'm a Nick @ Nite junkie.. And then I'm about to go sleep right now..

Oh and there's an Addams Family marathon this weekend on TV Land.. So cool.. I'm going to watch. Changed my blog music too. Now Playing:

Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue

*sigh*

Ugh.. Today was my last day of spring session school.. So I should be having fun, but something always has to mess up my good feelings.

I lost my Case Closed viewing buddy and late night chatter for the time being.. Hopefully it won't be for long.. Tonight felt lonely.. >_>

A Decent Case Closed, definitely didn't carry the momentum from last night's episode, but be sure to read my review.. Because with a keen eye for details, only one review prevails! ^__^

Friends

Well, I was thinking that not much happened today.. and then I sorta remembered what happened today.. lol I ended up seeing my friend Keesha today, it had been over two weeks since we last hung out, busy lives get in the way and such. Anyway, comes out that Ray ended up joining us as well, so we drove to his place and I got to sit in a massage chair while we waited for him.. @_@ . It was nice seeing him again, it had been over a year at least since the last time we hung out. We all went to Baskin Robbins and ate some ice cream and chatted for an hour or so.. and then just like that it was over. It was nice, and I'll probably do something with them around my birthday later this month.

My other friend thing, is that I just watched Case Closed with Andrea, it was really fun commenting on the show (like we do with other shows) and then guessing at the only break (about halfway through the show) who was the suspect and all that. I ended up guessing correctly who the murderer was.. but not the way the person was killed, it was so complex, simply ingenious! Exchanging comments with her during shows is really fun.
