Captain Marvel!

Taking the idea from a friend, who I hope updates her dream journal soon! I'm going to have some art entries as when I finish a project. Here's my first drawing (fully completed) that I've done in a year. *Put images in thumbnails to ease viewing*

1) First I sketched Captain Marvel. I did everything but his left leg, since I couldn't quite get the perspective point of view down.

2) Then I scanned that in and digitally added his left leg (flipped his other leg basically).

3) I then printed out the drawing (in a blue hue) and inked it. I realize I have a tendency for thick lines. I then scanned that in.

4) After being scanned, I then proceeded to color it up. I didn't quite know what to do with the eyes, since classic Cap was just small dots for eyes, and I'm not good at modern eyes, so I just added a bit of black at the last moment. I did some minor darker colors to give the aspect of shading, but it's only somewhat noticeable on the boots.

Captain Marvel!

Overall I thought I did a good job. The head came out a lot better than I had expected, but I wasn't too happy with the balled up fist. I couldn't find a good skin tone, so I probably should've blended a few and maybe I'll go back in and do that since I have each step saved. I plan to try my hand at drawing Billy Batson (Marvel's alter ego)next.

Returns

I've spent the last week going to Best Buy trying to return a DVD of mine that I didn't want/would rather have store credit for instead. It's completely sealed (unopened) & even has the best buy sticker price/upc on it. I took it Tuesday hoping to get store credit, but they refused since it was "out of their system" and I didn't have a receipt. I tried another best buy the next day with no luck. Then on Thursday I was able to get my hands on the reciept so I went back Friday. They still wouldn't take it, simply because it's over 30 days... and that annoys me to no end. It's closed, it has the original packaging, I have the friggin reciept and it's not like I want a cash refund.. I just want store credit because I plan on buying something at the store.. I find this to be completely unfair, and all this tough luck has done nothing to help my buyers remorse, and it's just another hurdle for myself to get money together to buy a pstwo.

London Blasts

My thoughts are with those affected by the terror attacks that took place in London earlier today. Justice will not splinter.

Birthday Begins!

Well yesterday was my twenty-first birthday. Man how time has flown. It's really hard to believe how old I am, and I tend to reflect a lot but it's always best to be in the now and not rely on the past. My bday presents are coming slowly, since they were ordered online. Just some books, dvds, games. I'm pretty simple yet complicated at the same time.

I went to see Batman Begins with my parents today, it was a great movie and they loved it as well. I had to explain some parts of it to my mom, and she still doesn't get what I'm saying but at least she tries. Then we ate at Fuddruckers after and sat at the King's table. Nice touch since it was my bday dinner essentially. That place is expensive to eat at, but it tastes great. Also luck was with me since the showing we were going to go at was sold out, we bought tickets for the next one and hung around Burbank. While there we stopped at a bargain bookstore and ended up finding a Star Wars book I had been wanting for a few years now and was out of print. Yay!

Viewing Habits

I don't watch TV as much as I once did back in the day. I also have a backlog of DVDs that I haven't had a chance to watch yet, but I'll settle for just talking about what I watch. I've really gotten on a big L&O kick this past year, catching the classic series on TNT, and tuning into SVU every now and then on USA. Of the current season, I tend to only watch them when I catch them. I did manage to catch a rerun from this seasons SVU that stars a girl I know from class. =) I also watch the CSI's, Miami, NY, the original all are great shows and ocassionally I catch the local rerun of CSI on Saturday or Sunday NIght.

I didn't really get to see a lot this season, I did manage to stay current with Smallville, and I'm still catching up on Enterprise (by far the best season to date). It's a shame Enterprise is getting cancelled, it's funny, I didn't make an effort to really watch the show till I heard it was leaving and I wanted it to stay. And I watched 24, another great season of Jack Bauer, I can't wait to see what they do next year. I must say, Driscoll leaving was the best departure, Dessler/Tony was a big upgrade. That's about all I saw this season, I caught a few eps of ER (I'm liking the show again), some of Apprentice (surprisingly entertaining) & of the Office (has potential, same with Jake in Progress). I saw some of Blind Justice, but it's sad to hear it's not coming back.. Sounds like it had a premise that wouldn't last long honestly. Poor Ron Eldard, I like that actor. I do want to catch up on Desperate Housewives (only saw the first 2 eps) & Grey's Anatomy (haven't seen any).

I only watch CN on the weekends, usually just to see the premieres on Toonami or Adult Swim. I like American Dad and Family Guy, although I have to make an effort to see the new episodes. I watch Spike TV sometimes on Monday when RAW is on, I tend to browse the cable channels plenty to find the right show. I like some of the shows on G4, Attack of the Show is entertaining, Judgment Day is a good review format, X-play is still ok but really losing the luster it had on Tech Tv, Icons has some great episodes, Filter has some good lists ocassionally & G4tv is fun to watch.

I think that covers most of what I watch besides just random shows I can't think of at the moment. Writing it all out it seems like a lot, but honestly it feels like I barely watch Tv.

Crunch Time

I have to say for all the times for me to come down with being sick, this would probably be one of the worst times. It started Sunday when my throat became sore, it was tough to swallow, and I had a water bottle besides me at all times. The throat calmed a bit today, but of course now my head felt like it was exploding. Unfortunately I couldn't just lay in bed, I had things to get done and went about my day. I got back my Stats test, which I must say I did very well on =D. Then I went to Poly Sci, where I proceeded to do poorly on the quiz, I think I ended up reading the wrong chapter of what I did get a chance to read, as a lot of the questions seemed really foreign to me. And then I struggled through Mass Comm, turning in my paper at the end of class, hopefully I'll get a C on it.

Throughout the whole morning my head was pounding, and I could barely talk with how my throat was, I kept going in and out during the classes, at times falling asleep and not being casual about it. The day couldn't end fast enough for me. What sucks even more about this was I was planning on seeing Revenge of the Sith today with my dad since he had taken the day off, but once I got home and had some lunch, I went right to my bed and passed out for a good 2-3 hours, postponing the movie for another day.

As I'm writing this I feel a bit better but I know I have a draft due for class wednesday, so I have to get on that asap. If I feel up to it, I might go to a morning showing of Sith tomorrow, or get my haircut. The middle of the week is usually the time when I'm busiest the most, especially with my hopes to run in to someone on wednesday that I need to talk to. I can barely function on the computer, so the fact I was able to write this post is saying a lot. I did see the season finale of 24 today, and it was a great end to a great season. I look forward to seeing what Jack is doing next season, too bad it's not till next January.

My Online activity

With starting back up on this blog, I figured it would be a good time to say what things I'm doing online.

Avatar Republic, is the place to find all the avatars I use, 100x100 since that seems to be the most common dimensions. It's updated pretty frequently, with a nice update comment I've added in the past month to the front page of the site. I may make slightly larger versions ocassionally since a board I go to has larger dimensions for avatars.

That's about it, besides this place. Over at AA-T, there seems to be a real lack of organization in putting together content, so I've been reluctant to really do news/reviews. If there is a renewed effort, I may reconsider, but until then I'll be taking a loose stance with that board.

Right now is crunch time with my classes, so I won't be doing much work creatively speaking. I have an idea for a Bat Fic, and I'll see about exploring that when I get more free time this summer. It's still up in the air whether I'll be able to go to any cons this summer, I plan to, it's just up for things to fall in the right place.

I do have an urge to contribute at some site, I just haven't found the right opportunity. Untill that moment, this blog will be pretty much the only place to find my views on things, my life commentary and who i'm flirting with. Hopefully I get some readers/people who care to read (and maybe comment ^_~).
